E.W. Scripps Associates Member Benefits

We invite you to become an E.W. Scripps Associate Member of the Scripps Oceanographic Society.  E.W. Scripps Associates Membership is $1,000 per year.  In 1907, E.W. Scripps persuaded his sister Ellen Browning Scripps to donate $1,000 to purchase 170 acres north of La Jolla, California that became the Scripps campus.

The E. W. Scripps Associates, our most active and involved group, supports the research, education, and public outreach programs of Scripps Institution of Oceanography.  Members are invited to exclusive, quarterly programs and dinner meetings to go behind-the-scenes of the research laboratories, the Scripps fleet, and the Birch aquarium.  They get to meet and interact with the scientists and staff who have made Scripps one of the world's foremost scientific research centers.

E.W. Scripps Associates Members also receive:

	12-month subscription to Explorations, Scripps Institution of Oceanography's quarterly magazine, including an annual half-hour video edition
	Invitations to special members-only events including the annual Scripps Pier Festival and naturalist-led excursions
	The satisfaction of supporting research and education programs at Scripps that help to preserve our natural environment for future generations
	VIP tours of the Scripps campus by appointment
	Preview receptions by reservation at all member events
	First right of refusal on Scripps Oceanographic Society excursions
	Contacts with Scripps researchers by appointment
	Free tuition for child or grandchild during summer education program (*Upon request, free tuition will be offered in your name to a disadvantaged child.)

There are two membership options:

       You may choose to donate your membership ($950 or $1,000 tax deduction*), or

       You may choose to receive benefits from the Birch Aquarium at Scripps ($900 or $950 tax deduction*).

Birch Aquarium at Scripps benefits include:                    

	Free 12-month unlimited admission for two adults plus children or grandchildren ages 3-17 to the Birch Aquarium at Scripps
	Up to four free guest passes (a $30 value)
	Up to four free parking passes (a $12 value)
	Free 20% discount admission coupons
	OnBoard, the aquarium's quarterly activities newsletter
	10% discount at the Aquarium Bookshop
	Invitations to exclusive members events
	Discounts on aquarium activities and classes that range from local tidepooling to diving expeditions in tropic seas; from festive social occasions to guided field activities with Scripps naturalists.

*Should you choose to donate your free child's tuition, your tax deduction is increased by $50.
